Citrus syrup (for 2 cakes)



Finely stripped zest of 1 lemon and 1 orange
Juice of 2 oranges and 3 lemons
1 ½ cups of sugar


Put all into a pot and boil stirring until sugar is dissolved. Reduce heat and simmer until syrup begins to thicken.  Drizzle enough hot syrup over cold cake for the cake to glisten.
